Art therapy encompasses various approaches that can be beneficial, particularly in situations where expressing emotions and experiences verbally may be difficult. The process of creating art offers alternative ways to connect and experience. While it has shown numerous benefits, it's important to note that each person's experience is unique, and outcomes may vary. However, in many cases, art therapy fosters improved relationships, problem-solving abilities, and emotional resilience.
WHAT DOES TAKING PART IN THE ART THERAPY LOOK LIKE?
In art therapy, you will have a consistent schedule with me and engage in creative activities using different art materials. These activities may include exploring and reflecting on your artmaking process and how it relates to your daily life. You are the centre of the work. You can choose the art materials and how/what you want to do with them in the sessions. You can also choose to follow more structured exercises.
I will notice what you share about yourself, how you express this through the art forms, and the ways you connect with others. I will aim to work alongside you using images and, through checking in with you regularly, may support you to reflect and perhaps to try new ways of using creativity.
